How long Lord? Finding hope when the storm clouds gather
Sometimes we find ourselves struggling to understand this
world. Things don’t seem to run smoothly. Bad people get away with doing bad
things. Good people seem to suffer. It doesn’t seem fair. On top of all that it
can feel like God isn’t doing anything and the world is spinning out of
control. When we are confronted with these troubles we can be tempted to give
up and despair. But there is a better way.
In the Bible, God has given us what we need to survive
when we find ourselves faced with these harsh realities. He gives us prayers to
pray and language to use. He shows us what we desperately need to know, and in
particular he shows us more of himself. We learn to lament but not to despair.
To cry but not to give up.
This year at the conference we will walking through the Book
of Habakkuk and allowing God to teach us what faith looks like in the dark
places of life. When we begin to see God in all his glory, it doesn’t answer
all our questions, but it is the place where we can find joy.
